It's hard to look cool on a Segway.

Yeah, didn't pull it off last night when the Hubs and I zipped around a resort and shopping complex on a Segway Tour (a b-day present from last year that was about to expire). In fact, I almost ate pavement when I tried to be a daredevil speed demon. I didn't, but I did fly off the side and land on two feet. I'm like a puma that way.

:snort:

Not.

(In the course of the weekend, I managed to slam my index finger in the car door, burn my pinky finger, slam my toes in a door, and have a mystery bruise appear on both legs.)

Anyway, despite this near-catastrophe, this wasn't our first go-around on a Segway. Before our Honeymoon cruise, we did a day at Disneyworld and did a tour of Epcot before the park opened. Then when I was about 15 weeks pregnant, we went to Disneyland for my birthday and did a tour of California Adventure. In other words, we are at ease on this nifty mode of transportation.

When the Hubs forwarded me the camera phone photos, I noticed something.

For a couple of goofballs wearing helmets, we. are. looking. good.

Comparing to Sept. 2009...

(The Shorty on the left is BFF Sherry.)

I'm about 55-60 lbs lighter from there. The Hubs? Almost 40 lbs lighter.

That's right, I haven't mentioned the Weight Loss Ninja. 2 months or so in and he's down a current Little and a half. So proud. So proud and perhaps a small percentage jealous, hehe

Anyways, had an off week--I didn't fall off the wagon, but my body simply isn't cooperating. But I'm continuing on, charging ahead. Usually a bad week is followed by a good week :knock on wood: so hopefully a more extensive McFatty Monday post next week.

I'm in a hurry to get things done...

I like to title posts after lyrics and song titles...have you noticed this? Anyway, I had another productive lunch that went by way to fast--thus why I got back late. In no particular order:

1) got gas because one can only press ones luck with the gas light for so many miles
2) picked up the iMac from the Apple Store, which was PACKED. $238 later and the hard drive is replaced and double its original size. Hopefully this adds to its resale value as I am hoping to sell it and replace it with a shiny new laptop. Have I mentioned that mine has clamps and electrical tape holding the battery on? It also shuts off if the power cord pulls even slightly from its position, proving that the clamps and electrical tape are simply keeping a useless battery from falling off. Should I not be able to sell iMac for a decent amount, we will have to learn to love and trust one another once again. Counseling might be in our futures. (As iMac is currently tucked into my backseat, it would be a terrible day for someone to decide to steal my car.)

Oh and my hanging chad of a weight loss goal reward is going toward that new hard drive. It's practical, but I feel so--so--unrewarded. Oh well.
3) got Chick-fil-a. Think there's a connection between that and my McFatty post? Fear not, I got busy and skipped breakfast (which isn't really a great idea), but I didn't have to dip into my flex points too much.
4) I will preface this by saying that I'm not one for flashy jewelry and I think a lot of people are far too interested in carat size for the sake of showing off and a big chunk of diamond doesn't mean a happy marriage, etc. etc. That said and to risk sounding shallow, I love getting my wedding ring/engagement ring cleaned. The Hubs put a lot of thought and consideration into it, wanted it to be unique, and went for quality (it's just about the clearest, cleanest cut, most colorless diamond I can imagine), and I don't have the slightest idea how many carats it is between the main diamond and the band. What matters is that the Hubs wanted it to be special. Oh and the Shane Co. folks are fabulous. And when it comes down to it...

Look how sparkly! hehehe

Um, yeah. For a day or two following having it cleaned, I obnoxiously hold my hand out to catch the sunlight, office fluorescents, glow of the computer monitor...this is normal, yes?

Anyway, crossing my fingers the iMac doesn't have any further issues and hopefully the good people at the Apple Store were kind enough to reinstall Leopard for me, as the install discs are MIA.

Apologies, I am anti-McFatty today.

Just so I can say I "checked in" and I am being accountable, I will report that I'm about a pound heavier than my last post two weeks ago. It's the holidays, 'tis the season for overeating, fa la la la la, la la la la. Plus that had been post-food poisoning so it was to be expected. It's still disappointing not to make progress, but I can't really expect to drop pounds when I'm being lurred by queso dip, bean dip...it's really the dips that do me in. I really do want to get going with this losing weight business. Truly I do and I start to feel like I'm just making excuses when things simply do keep coming up--between getting sick and being sleep deprived and having my back vary in pain level from achy to hunchback. I hate justifying it, even if the reasons are totally legitimate. It's always excuses, it's always passive complacency. Grr. Time to get my head back in this.

Oh and I have my 7000th cold this year. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but still. My immune system has left the building. Probably not getting enough sleep has something to do with it too, but all's I know is that what the Hubs said last night is true--if it's not one thing, it's another with me. He then directed me to my vitamins.

Also? My car was having startup issues last week and was completely dead this morning. Lovely. Fortunately the Hubs was sweet enough to jump start it and take it himself so he can get the battery changed today.

Oh and the Mac desktop still gets the grey screen of death telling me I need to restart my computer...which never works. It won't boot up anymore even after wiping the hard drive clean and booting from the startup disks...any Mac people have any insight before I drop cash on DiskWarrior? It's only 3 years old and sat idle in a corner for many moons. (Admittedly, in a non-temperature controlled room and rarely got shutdown entirely...yes, I'm a bad computer owner.)

1st Father's Day.

Yes, between the two of them, our house is over-flowing with cuteness.

I'm thankful for...

My coworker (the good one) came up with this idea that every day until Thanksgiving, we say one thing we're thankful for so here it goes!

I'm thankful for my husband, who loves me in spite of my flaws and quirks. I can dish out a lot of stubbornness in particular, but for some reason, he wants to put up with me for another 50, 60, 70 years.

Poor guy.

"Would you go with me?"

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea
Help me tie up the ends of a dream
I gotta know, would you go with me
I love you so, so would you go with me

Those would be lyrics from Josh Turner's Would You Go With Me... I haven't heard it forever, mainly because I'm in the rock/alternative part of my music cycle. I tend to listen to all country for awhile and then transition to all rock/alternative for the most part. Country music is starting to creep up more and more in my playlists so I think I'm transitioning.

Anyways, this is just one of the songs the Hubs sang to me when we first started dating. I remember we were in his car--the itty bitty red two-door he used to have--and were driving down FLW, getting on the 101 North probably going to a movie. It would have been late in the year because I remembered feeling all giddy that he was singing "I love you so" before he'd actually told me he loved me.

Ah yes, the song remembers when. Oh how far we've come to just this weekend during an ultimate game-athon challenge affectionately giving each other unflattering nicknames, hehe

Oh I wonder if my singing causes the same fluttering in my dear, dear husband's heart...teeheee Perhaps I should add ear plugs to the Tarjay (AKA: Target) list for his poor ears? :)

So really I knew back then I had a pretty great guy...and it was right around 2 years later, give or take a few days, that I married that serenading Irishman. To quote another country song, this one by Brad Paisley: "And I thought I loved you then..." I have to say, I've got a pretty wonderful husband. They just don't make men like him.

Oh and because this cracks me up, here's my baby-faced hubby (please excuse the blinding flash) back then....and now (well, on our honeymoon anyway). Nnnaaawwwwww...
